This is Water.

As the end of another school year fast approaches, I can't help but think of my favorite commencement address, "This is Water," delivered by noted author David Foster Wallace to the graduating class of Kenyon College in 2005. (The full version of this address was ultimately published as a book in 2009, and parts of the speech comprise a popular online video bearing the same name - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eC7xzavzEKY)

Though he is sadly no longer with us, Wallace's words somehow seem to resonate more with each passing year. Whether you've just graduated or are still carving your path through school, Wallace reminds us of the importance of kindness, and that we're all in this together.

In the giant fish bowl that is life, his simple yet poignant mantra aims at once to ground and inspire: This is Water.
